Ivan G. Myasoedov (1881-1953). Russian painter.
Again this interesting and intriguing painter.
I have compared the details (sorry for the very bad quality!) of the Hercules figure of the two Argonauts paintings that I just published (but I know there are other versions) with a beautiful design kept by the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. The position with open arms and thighs spread is exceptional, but the body is not relaxed, just look at the powerful neck straining and the abdominal muscles taut. A painter who knew well the male body and knew how to use it.
