Greg Gandy (1980-). American painter.
Jeremy Mann (1979-). American painter.
Two painters too often associated, but to look closely are very different. They both belong to American Realism. They strongly resemble the same aesthetic appeared since the early '50s in the illustrations of the magazine of the time. Mostly urban reality images. Of course both Gandy and Mann have introduced their own characteristics: the first one is clear and the second one is blurry. Obviously the cutting images, such as photographs, is more risky and unusual. So far, so good. But there is a kind of insecurity or indecision in their chosen themes, more in Mann and less in Gandy, making them swinging and digressing in different contents that seems to be non belonging to them but simply borrowed.
