Olaf Isaachsen (1835-1893). Norwegian painter.
Nothing but a quasi-banal painting of a middle-level provincial academic painter. But it looks like an unusual painting. Two young men have just bathed, one is lining up and the other dries his body in the sun. Everything in the habit, so why unusual? Because the spontaneity of nakedness seems almost provocative today despite the uninhibited and evolved society which we are living in. But this is Norway, a Scandinavian country, where culture or respect for the body has not been too influenced by Christian culture.
