Edvard Munch (1863-1944). Norwegian painter.
The theme of nude has always been present in Munch's works. The female nude is seen filtered by sexual desire, but inevitably ends with the most exasperated frustration and violent drama. The male nude, equally present in his works, is seen in the aesthetic sense (there is probably also a strong desire), but it has always lived with serenity and human partecipation; Munch saw in the male body that plastic monumentality that is entirely lacking in the female nude paintings.
